Best known for its pioneering work rescuing, rehabilitating and reintroducing orphaned elephants back into the wild elephant herds of Tsavo, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust claims a deeply rooted family history in wildlife conservation in Kenya.
The SWT operates six key conservation programs that together carry out the trust’s mission to protect, conserve and preserve Kenya’s endangered species including elephants and rhinos. Founded in 1977 by Dr. Dame Daphne Sheldrick DBE, the trust honors the memory of her late husband – famous naturalist and founding Warden of Tsavo National Park, David Leslie William Sheldrick MBE.
